Cardi B came out on top in the copyright infringement suit. Outside the courthouse, Cardi thanked the jurors. (quote) “I wasn’t sure if I was going to lose or not. I told myself if I win, I was going to cuss out Kevin Brophy. But I don’t have it in my heart to cuss him out.”
Kevin Brophy claimed that his likeness — a distinctive back tattoo — was used in the cover art of Cardi’s mixtape and that his reputation was damaged. As a result, Brophy supposedly suffered with anxiety and demanded $5 million in compensation.
Cardi celebrated the win on social media, tweeting, “I just won this lawsuit …I’m soo emotional right now…I wanna kiss Gods feet right now …..I’M BEYOND GRATEFUL!!!!” (CBS News)
