DJ KHALED: Dragged Over Twerk Videos

DJ Khaled‘s learning there’s a time and a place for everything — even twerk videos.

Khaled’s receiving backlash after he posted a bunch of women in bikinis dancing on a yacht. Lil Baby can also be seen rapping along in the video, making it look like it could be a video shoot for Khaled’s track “Body in Motion.” Under normal circumstances, people would have either hit the like button or just scroll on by. But since this was posted yesterday (Wednesday), the last day of Ramadan, the rules were a little different.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslim men and women are told to dress conservatively, wearing nothing tight or revealing — basically the complete opposite of the dress code for the Khaled video. Khaled’s comments quickly filled up with folks asking him to show more respect for other religions and their people. As one put it, “Posting twerking videos during Ramadan while Palestine burns. If there was ever a reason to cancel anyone this is it!”

While the video is still up, he has since posted a message wishing his followers “Eid Mubarak,” which roughly translates to happy Ramadan.
