Investigators in the tragic shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins are focused on the assistant director and the person responsible for prop weapons called the “armorer.”

The armorer on Alec Baldwin’s movie Rust was Hannah Gutierrez Reed. Her attorneys floated a wild theory of how a bullet found its way into the gun handed to Baldwin.

They called it sabotage.

Lawyer Jason Bowles believes a person on the movie set secretly placed live ammunition into the container of dummy rounds. He added, (quote) “There can be very few explanations for why live rounds end up in a box of dummy prop ammunition. We’re not saying anybody intended a tragedy — a homicide — but they wanted to cause a safety incident.”

In a separate interview on NBC, attorney Robert Gorence suggested that the “disgruntled” crew members that walked off the set in protest had motive.  (Los Angeles Times)
