LEBRON JAMES: Breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All-Time Scoring Record

LeBron James broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record in the final seconds of the third quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Cryto.com Arena, scoring his 38,888th and 38,889th points.

The previous record holder, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who also played for the Los Angeles Lakers, was in attendance.

After James sunk the record-setting bucket with a step-back jumper, the game was halted for a special ceremony on the court in while a video presentation of LeBron’s career and scoring milestones was shown on the area big-screen.

Abdul-Jabbar, who held the record for nearly 40 years, and NBA commission Adam Silver came out the give LeBron the game ball and pay tribute to pro basketball’s new scoring king, who was overcome with emotion. (Los Angeles Times)
