The last-minute cancelation of Weekends With Adele in Las Vegas is a massive business blunder. Adele admitted her embarrassment. As a professional performer, she ought to be embarrassed canceling a residency with only 24-hours notice.

Front row seats cost more than $6000. Adele did not reserve a single seat for guests or VIPs. Everybody was expected to pay. The cheapest tickets to Weekends With Adele went for more than $100. Those seats were half a football field away from the stage.

All 24 shows were sold out. Adele collected at least $50 million. Caesars Palace expected blockbuster business every weekend through April with luxury suites filled. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)

So much was riding on Adele’s residency, which is one reason she pulled the plug on a production that did not meet her high standards. Adele said in a video while crying, (quote) “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to pull it together in time. I can’t give you what I have, right now.” (Billboard)
