Tyler Perry joined the “three comma club.” A remarkable feat considering he was once living in his car.

He’s officially a billionaire, according to the accountants at Forbes magazine. They calculate his income in the last 15 years to be $1.4 billion. That’s before Tyler Perry paid Uncle Sam his share of taxes.

Tyler earns so much because he demands to own 100 percent of everything he writes and produces. This includes 1200 TV episodes, 22 movies and two dozen stage plays. He opened a quarter-billion dollar 330-acre Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta where his TV shows are taped.

His contract with ViacomCBS for new content pays him $150 million per year and makes him a stakeholder in the BET streaming service. (Forbes).
