Rihanna may have gotten herself into a holy war — over a Savage x Fenty fashion show that “accidentally” used a song featuring Muslim religious texts.
The artist behind the music, who’s remaining anonymous, is suing RiRi and Fenty because he’s been getting death threats over the show. He says he submitted a different version of the song, titled “Doom,” which did not include a reading a text known as a Hadith. Conservative Muslim observers found that inappropriate for a lingerie show.
RiRi apologized immediately after the show took place, saying, “I’d like to thank the Muslim community for pointing out a huge oversight that was unintentionally offensive in our Savage x Fenty show. We understand that we have hurt many of our Muslim brothers and sisters, and I’m incredibly disheartened by this.”
The claimant is seeking $10 million in damages (NME)
