When the NBA season opens next week, the Brooklyn Nets will be without one of their star players.

Kyrie Irving remains unvaccinated. The state of New York mandates proof of vaccination to enter indoor arenas or gyms. Kyrie may not practice with his teammates nor attend home games.

The Brooklyn Nets general manager drew a red line on Tuesday. (quote) “We respect Kyrie’s individual right to choose. We will not permit any member of our team to participate with part-time availability.”

Kyrie’s agents tried to justify Kyrie’s stance, which will keep him out of basketball despite a $137 million contract. Supposedly, Kyrie refuses the vaccine “to be a voice for the voiceless.” The people who are out of job because they too refused to follow public health policy and get the COVID vaccines. An insider said, (quote) “To Kyrie, this is about a grander fight than the one on the court.” (ESPN)
