CHRIS ROCK: Needed Therapy After Oscars Slap

Chris Rock‘s face was hurt when Will Smith slapped him during the 2022 Academy Awards, but his psyche was hurt even worse.

Fellow comic and close friend Leslie Jones says Rock never let on just how deeply he was hurt. She tells People magazine, “That [stuff] was humiliating. It really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters.”

She adds that she was hit hard by the slap as well. “For a long time I was just mad. Chris Rock did an [effing] joke. I know Will, too… I was like, you couldn’t handle that afterwards? This is the Oscars. The whole world is watching.”
