Beyonce‘s mom Tina is coming to her defense in response to the backlash she’s receiving for her Tiffany & Company joint ad with Jay-Z.

Critics called out the fourth woman — and the first Black woman — ever to wear the iconic 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond, because its origins trace back to a colonial mine in South Africa. Many speculate that it’s a blood diamond.

TMZ says Bey is upset because she didn’t know about the diamond’s historical significance. But Tina is calling out all the “socially conscious activists,” claiming they don’t know enough about diamonds because most don’t own any. Instead she urges critics to do their own investigations on engagement rings, and also noted that many people wear leather without any idea of the treatment of the cows.
