BEYONCÉ: Accused of ‘Thievery’ by Kelis

The new Beyoncé album, Renaissance, is now available.

Kelis listened to the album. She’s angry that Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams sampled one of her songs without asking for permission. You can hear bits of “Get Along With You” by Kelis on the Beyoncé track called “Energy.”

The BeyHive claimed it’s a collaboration. Kelis replied by video and clapped her hands for emphasis (quote) “It’s not a collab — It’s theft.”

Kelis posted two videos sharing her thoughts. She accused Pharrell of passive-aggressive behavior. She feels targeted and disrespected. They have too many common connections for Pharrell to not reach out for her approval. Kelis called this failure “intentional” on the part of Pharrell. (New York Post, TMZ)
