Disney has over 50 movies coming to theaters through 2027 — here they are
Walt Disney Studios has an enviable movie slate for years to come.
In addition to its coming Disney animated movies and live-action films, the studio also releases Pixar movies, “Star Wars” films, and Marvel movies.
With the company’s 2019 acquisition of Fox studios, which includes 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, and Blue Sky Studios, Disney gained control of a number of upcoming projects and franchises like “Avatar.” Here are the over 60 Disney and Fox movies currently scheduled for release.

Disney’s live-action “Mulan,” originally scheduled for a March release, is now on Disney Plus and some theaters.
New release date: September 4, 2020 on Disney Plus for $29.99 in the US and some theaters.

An adaptation of the animated movie of the same name, the film follows a young woman who disguises herself as a man, takes her father’s place in war, and saves China. The cast includes Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, Yoson An, Jet Li, and Jason Scott Lee.
Disney previously rescheduled it for July and August 2020. It’s currently available to unlock on Disney Plus for a fee. On December 4, it will be made available to all subscribers without any additional cost.

Fox’s horror movie “The Empty Man,” based on a graphic novel, is coming in October.

The film follows an ex-cop who tries to find a missing girl as he’s haunted by the death of his wife and son.
The adaptation stars James Badge Dale (“13 Hours”), Samantha Logan, and Aaron Poole.
Pixar’s “Soul” was moved from the summer to the fall.

Disney and Pixar announced the film Wednesday, June 19, 2019. The movie will “take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions.”
Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter co-directs the film with Kemp Powers. Jamie Foxx voices Joe Gardner, the character seen above, who is a middle-school band teacher who has a passion for jazz music. Tina Fey voices a “soul-in-training” who has an unexpected encounter with Gardner decides to help him get back to Earth.
Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross compose the film with original jazz music from Jon Batiste.

“Nomadland,” based on a work of non-fiction, is coming in December.
Release date: December 4, 2020
The film stars Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, and is directed by Chloé Zhao. It’s based on the non-fiction book that follows Americans traveling the country searching for work.
“Free Guy” stars Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”) and is slated for December.

Reynolds plays a bank teller, named Guy, whose bank gets robbed multiple times daily. When Guy starts wondering what’s going on, he realizes he’s a non-playable character in a video game. Reynolds debuted the first footage for the film at New York Comic Con in October 2019 to a warm reception.
Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, and Utkarsh Ambudkar star.

The musical is about a 16-year-old teenager who becomes a drag queen. It will star Richard E. Grant, Max Harwood, and Sharon Horgan.
Fox will release a third “Kingsman” movie from director Matthew Vaughn.

On June 19, Disney confirmed the name of the third movie will be “The King’s Man.” According to Disney and Fox, the film will follow the origins of the independent intelligence agency.
The synopsis reads, “As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.”
The film will now debut about a year after its original release.

Disney will release horror thriller “Antlers” through Fox Searchlight.

Raya (Cassie Steele) is a lone warrior from the kingdom of Kumandra. She goes on an expedition with a “crew of misfits” in search of the last dragon to bring unity back to the world. Awkwafina (“Crazy Rich Asians”) voices the Last Dragon in the film.
The fantasy-action adventure will be directed by Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins (“Big Hero 6,” “Frozen”) and is inspired by the cultures of Southeast Asia.
March 12, 2021 was originally the date for an untitled Disney live-action movie.
Disney finally gave the “Bob’s Burger” movie a release date.

When Disney released its updated movie schedule through 2023, the film was nowhere to be found. “Bob’s Burger” creator Loren Bouchard told fans to “Fear Not.”

Disney’s “Cruella” will serve as an origin story of Cruella de Vil.

Emma Stone will be the villain from the animated classic “The 101 Dalmations.” The movie was originally supposed to come out in 2020. The first look at Stone as the iconic villain was shown at D23.
According to Stone, the movie will have a 1970s punk-rock feel.
Pixar will release “Luca” next June.

Oscar nominee Enrico Casarosa (“La Luna”) is directing the coming-of-age story about Luca who spends his summer on the Italian Riviera with his best friend. The catch? His friend happens to be a sea monster from another world.
“This is a deeply personal story for me, not only because it’s set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the core of this film is a celebration of friendship,” said Casarosa in a press release. “Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become and it is those bonds that are at the heart of our story in ‘Luca.'”
“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will follow another Marvel superhero.

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the movie about the Master of Kung Fu. The character was introduced in the comics in 1973. Simu Liu will play the titular character. Awkwafina (“Ocean’s 8”) will also star.
Tony Leung will play the Mandarin. A fake version of the character, played by Ben Kingsley, appeared in “Iron Man 3.”

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas will star in “Deep Water.”

The film, based on the Patricia Highsmith book, follows a couple who have fallen out of love who start playing mind games with each other. Ben Affleck, Tracy Letts, and Ana de Armas star in the thriller.
Affleck and Armas have been seeing one another since filming on the movie ended. In August, the two went on a double date with Affleck’s longtime friend Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso.
Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary, “The Beatles: Get Back,” is in theaters this fall.

Disney announced it acquired the distribution rights to the documentary in March 2020.
According to a press release, the film will go behind-the-scenes of the making of the band’s album “Let It Be” and their final live concert on London’s Savile Row. The film was made using more than 55 hours of unseen footage that was filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969 and 140 hours of “mostly unheard” audio recordings from the “Let It Be” album sessions.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will reunite next year in “The Last Duel.”

Ridley Scott is directing the 14th century epic about two knights whose bond is tested. It has quite the cast in Affleck, Damon, Adam Driver, and Jodie Comer.
Originally, the movie was going to be given a limited release on Christmas before opening in more theaters on January 8, 2021.
Marvel’s “Eternals” was pushed back about a year.

The film is based around the group of immortal beings created by cosmic Gods. Richard Madden (“Game of Thrones”), Kumail Nanjiani (“Stuber”), Lauren Ridloff (“The Walking Dead”), Brian Henry Tyree (“Atlanta”), Salma Hayek, Don Lee, and Angelina Jolie will star in the movie.
Disney has another animated film set for the end of 2021.

Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Zootopia” co-director Byron Howard are reportedly working on a new Disney animated movie.
Fox’s “West Side Story” is a remake of the movie based on the Broadway musical.

The live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” doesn’t have a release date, yet, but singer Halle Bailey was cast in the role in July 2019. The remake will include original songs and new ones from Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

A fourth “Thor” movie is coming in 2022.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie (and the new king of Asgard).

The director of the first “Doctor Strange,” Scott Derrickson, left the film in January 2020 “due to creative differences.” He remains an executive producer. “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi is returning to the MCU and will direct the sequel.
Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Dr. Stephen Strange in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will be in the sequel, too. The events of her Disney+ series, “ WandaVision,” will directly tie in to “Doctor Strange 2.”
March 25, 2022, was previously held for an untitled live-action Disney remake.

A “Black Panther” was confirmed in 2019.

Kevin Feige confirmed at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con that “Black Panther 2” is underway and that Chadwick Boseman will be back as King T’Challa. One month later, director and co-writer Ryan Coogler announced at D23 Expo that the sequel will be 2022’s big summer movie.
This was the only Marvel movie to not change dates.

It will be followed by a Disney live-action film.

Disney has a reported 20 live-action movies in the works. Could this be a date for a sequel to one it has already released?
“Aladdin” producer Dan Lin told Insider they were already looking at a potential sequel to that film. Variety reported in February 2020 the sequel is moving forward.

We know a third “Guardians of the Galaxy” is coming eventually. Director James Gunn said he needs to finish his “Suicide Squad” movie before work on the third film begins. 2022 may be too early for “GotG Vol. 3” since his WB movie is expected to be released in August 2021. 2023 sounds like a solid date.
The first two “Guardians” movies were released in the first week of August.
Marvel’s final film of 2023 comes in November.

Now that Disney purchased Fox, it can make X-Men and Fantastic Four movies. This seems far out enough for a reboot of one of the two and we’d put our money on the Fantastic Four. The last time we saw them on screen was in 2015.

Wes Anderson’s next movie, “The French Dispatch,” now has no release date.
