He’s been married to Hailey Bieber since the fall of 2018.

But Justin Bieber opened up about earlier relationships and the pain he felt during them in a new trailer for his upcoming documentary special, Justin Bieber: Next Chapter.

The 26-year-old pop superstar also claimed to be in a much better place at the moment in his relationships with her and with God.

‘There’s a lot more confidence in my relationships,’ Justin said of his current married life.

But before finding peace, he recounted thinking, ‘Man, is this pain ever gonna go away?’ 

Although he doesn’t provide specifics about any of his relationships in the trailer, he may be referring to his on–off relationship with Selena Gomez, whom he dated multiple times between late 2010 and early 2018.

Justin has previously said that the actress and singer has inspired some of his songs, including Sorry and Mark My Words.

Justin continued to speak about his relationship troubles, adding that he would ‘rather get away than to be in this cycle.’

‘Now I just have hope in my relationship with God,’ he continued.

‘That’s not based on fear, that’s not based on my past. It’s based on who I truly am.’

Hailey, 23, also pops up throughout the two-minute trailer, and her interactions with Justin are presented as warm and soothing.

According to Justin, the enforced time together in quarantine due to the pandemic helped to strengthen their young relationship.

‘It allowed us to take a step back and focus on each other. That was a beautiful thing and that turned into working on an album.’

The Baby singer’s new special will serve as an update on how he’s been doing throughout the pandemic and will also focus on the music he’s created while quarantining. 

His previous YouTube docuseries, Seasons, focused on some of his recent health issues surrounding his Lyme disease diagnosis, while showcasing on the recording of his most recent album, Changes.

The album debuted atop the Billboard 200, but it sold considerably less than his previous album and received mixed reviews from critics.

After disappointing ticket sales for his tour, which would have started in May, Justin was forced to postpone his concerts due to the pandemic and reschedule them for summer 2021.

According to Justin, the enforced time together in quarantine due to the pandemic helped to strengthen his relationship with his wife Hailey
