Two months ago, Demi Lovato shocked the cast and crew of a TV show in development. Demi left the starring role on Hungry just as production was about to start.

Production has now completely shut down. NBC reviewed the pilot episode and passed on Hungry. That leaves former Modern Family star Ariel Winter without a gig. She replaced Demi, who blamed “scheduling” for abandoning the show.

Hungry was pitched as a comedy revolving around friends from 12-step meetings about food issues. Demi had been a bold casting choice that could lend a sympathetic perspective. They once sought treatment for anorexia and bulimia. (Variety)
