The WNBA basketball teams may start traveling like their NBA brothers — on privately chartered flights.

Brittney Griner is behind the potential policy change.

WNBA league rules forbid teams from “cost prohibitive” private flights. However, Brittney is a security risk following her arrest and imprisonment in Russia. She’s not able to fly commercial.

All-Star WNBA player Breanna Stewart offered to subsidize league-wide private travel. She tweeted, (quote) “I would contribute my NIL [name, image, and likeness], posts + productions hrs to ensure we all travel in a way that prioritizes player health + safety. Who’s with me?” (ESPN)
