Tuesday in London, long-time Swiftie Olivia Rodrigo finally met her idol Taylor Swift.

The pair posed at the BRIT Awards, where Olivia performed “Drivers License” and Taylor was honored as a Global Icon. She is the first woman, the first American and the youngest recipient of the Global Icon award.

Taylor gave an emotional speech after a video introduction featuring compliments from close friends such as Selena Gomez and Ed Sheeran. Taylor joked, (quote) “Last year I almost played Glastonbury Music Fest. We all know what happened next. The world changed. I ended up making three albums instead.”

Speaking directly to the young artists and creators watching the ceremony, Taylor added, (quote) “There might be times when you put your whole heart and soul into something and it’s met with cynicism or skepticism. You can’t let that crush you. You have to let that fuel you.” (E! News)
