It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Sinbad since his devastating stroke two years ago, but the comedian has provided an update on his difficult recovery.

The 66-year-old went on Instagram and shared a link to a website where he is chronicling his recovery. Sinbad suffered an ischemic stroke in October of 2020 that was the result of a blood clot that traveled from his heart to his brain. He nearly died and was hospitalized for close to nine months. Since then, he’s been going through intense therapy and, according to the website, has “already beaten the odds and has made significant progress beyond what anyone expected,” but added he still has “miles to go.” He is in the process of learning to walk again and vowed “not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.”

But the last two years have also had an enormous strain on him financially. The website states, “The costs of therapy far exceed what insurance covers and it has taken its toll on the family. Many of you have asked what you can do to support us. We created this site as an avenue for those who would like to lend their support and contribute in some way. All gifts will go to the Adkins Trust to help provide for Sinbad’s care and help him continue to fight this battle.”
