RIHANNA: Named National Hero of Barbados

It’s official — Rihanna is a national hero!

The Bajan bad gyal was in her home country of Barbados this week when the island country officially cut ties with the British and declared itself a republic. On the same day that Prime Minister Mia Mottley met with the Prince of Wales, she also made a point to recognize Rihanna as the “National Hero of Barbados.”

Mottley praised Rihanna with a lyrical reference to one of her hit songs, saying, “May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions.”
