JADA PINKETT SMITH: Book Reveals Surprising News About Her Marriage to Will Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith opens up about her life with Will Smith in her upcoming memoir, Worthy, and reveals a surprising secret about their marriage.

The actress sat down with NBC’s Hoda Kotb for an NBC News primetime special that airs Friday night. In the interview, Smith reveals that she and Will have been separated since 2016. She explains that after 20 years of marriage, they mutually agreed in 2016 to live “completely separate lives,” but haven’t gotten a divorce. They are still legally married, just not together romantically. They didn’t even tell anybody until now. Jada explains, “Why it fractured…that — that’s a lot of things … By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”

Jada’s book comes out next Tuesday. (NBC News)
